You take one look at the hellishness of the outside world and turn your back on it completely, running into your apartment. 'I need more information' is all you think to yourself, as you lock your door behind you.

You run to the television and stop yourself from turning it on again, recognizing that whatever is going on outside is probably the reason that your cable is out. You pull out your cellphone and type in your mother's name. You hit the friendly green button and put the phone up to your ear, but nothing happens. All you hear is that empty electronic noise, like you are listening to a speaker with nothing playing. "Hello?" You ask to nothing, and know you will be getting nothing in return. Anger is welling up inside you, and it takes everything you can to not hurl your phone against a wall.

'If it rings, you'll need to answer it..' You say to yourself as you take a long moment to breath in deeply once, twice, and finally glance to your alarm clock. The radio. You slip your cellphone back into your pocket and sit down on the bed and look at your AM/FM Sony Clock Radio.

Upon turning it on, all you get is static, but in the years you've owned the thing, you don't think you've ever even considered touching the radio. You roll the tuner all the way to the beginning and move methodically down the line. Every subtle movement of the line on the numbers seems to increase your anxiety. You are certain by now you should be hearing a Beatles song from the classic rock station, or grungy guitars from that rock station that has been playing grungy guitars for the last fiftene years. Finally, you hear a clear voice. In all of your years, you don't think you've never heard a clearer signal. This message is being broadcast strongly, so not to be missed. It's a man's voice, and you correctly assume it is military.

"--on't leave your homes. A state of emergency has been declared. If you come into contact with one of the infected, you should do your best to avoid them at all costs. If you are put into a life or death situation, a blow to the head will stun them and a bullet through the head will stop them. Individually, the infected are a threat. As a group, the infected can be fierce.

If bitten, seek medical attention immediately. The sickness is transferred only through a bite, but is exceptionally potent.

This message is brought to you by your state government, and will repeat in a moment."

You sit and stare at the radio. A disease of some sort has apparently taken over your state. Was it terrorism, or possibly the government base in down in Sycamore Valley that every kid you've ever known thinks houses aliens and UFOs. What else could possibly cause a disease that infected so many people overnight? You start running through the possibilities, but knowing very little about this sort of thing, your brain lingers on horror movies and conspiracies. A long electronic tone startles you from your thought, and you realize it's the emergency broadcast signal and the message loops to the beginning.

"This message is brought to you by your state government.

As of 10pm last night, we became aware of a disease that is spreading at an incredible speed. Those infected can be identified by a vacancy in expression, a disregard for personal hygiene and well-being, and a determination to spread the disease through canniblism. Let me repeat that for emphasis. Those infected will attack with intent to kill, and ingest. Until further notice, don't leave your homes. A state if emer--"

You click off the radio, having now heard the entire message.

You have enough food and entertainment to last you a few days, but your mind moves to your parents and girlfriend. Your parents aren't terribly old, but they live in the middle of the suburban sprawl. It's a half hour drive to get to them, but would you even be able to reach them? Your girlfriend is another story. She lives right down the street, but it's towards the sirens and blaring. What if the sirens were because of her? What if she's dead, or even worse... infected?

What do you do?
STAY AND WAIT LIKE YOU WERE TOLD
TRY AND GET TO YOUR PARENTS, YOU'LL HAVE TO DRIVE
TRY AND GET TO YOUR GIRLFRIENDS, PROBABLY BETTER IF YOU WALK
